A subdomain is a part of a web address which is under the main domain, for instance name.example.com. From a technical perspective, even in www.example.com the "www" element is a subdomain given that the fully qualified domain name is only "example.com". Each subdomain can have its own web site and records and can even be hosted with a different provider if you need to use some feature that's not provided by your current provider. One example for using a subdomain is if you have a business site along with an online store under a subdomain where customers can buy your products. In addition, you can have a forum where they can discuss the products and by using subdomains as an alternative to subfolders you are going to avoid any risk of all sites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the site scripts. Keeping your sites separated is also more secure in the event of a script security breach.

Subdomains in Shared Hosting

Our shared hosting plans will enable you to set up hundreds of subdomains for every domain name hosted within your account without any problem. If the main domain is added, it will take two mouse clicks to set up a subdomain and select what folder it will open (if different from the default one), set custom error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and much more. All subdomains are going to be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for easy access and management. By right-clicking on any of them and by using quick access buttons you can see the error logs, visitor statistics or website files for that particular subdomain. We have not set a limit for the total amount of subdomains you can create with any one of our plans, so you can have as many as you need.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you buy a semi-dedicated server plan, you're going to be able to create as many subdomains as you want since this feature is unrestricted. Considering that the hosting plans are very powerful, we've decided not to put any cap on the number of subdomains. Our state-of-the-art Hepsia Control Panel will permit you to create a new subdomain with no more than a couple of clicks, to select which folder it's going to access inside the account, to enable FrontPage Extensions for it, to set up unique error pages, to create a shared or a dedicated IP address if you have one, and a lot more. For your convenience, all the subdomains will be listed under their root domain, so you can very easily see and handle them. With instant access links, you will also be able to open the site files for any one of the subdomains that you have or view its DNS records.
